Cooking classes offered at LSU

Registration is open for cooking classes at LSU this summer, and Tabasco 1868 restaurant in New Iberia also is offering classes for groups and indiviuals.

The Baton Rouge sessions, through LSU Leisure Courses, will be taught by Lili Courtney, owner and developer of Delightful Palate, a line of gourmet vinaigrettes. Courtney is a tenant at the LSU food Incubator.

In LSU’s School of Nutrition demo kitchen, students will learn to prepare and cook the food, then enjoy a meal and celebrate their accomplishments.

Classes include “Bounty of Summer,” Sunday, June 26; “French Modern Cuisine,” Sunday, July 10; and “A Taste of Italy’s Favorite Flavors,” Sunday, July 24. All sessions run 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

For more information or to register, call (225) 578-2500 or email answers@outreach.lsu.edu. The New Iberia eatery will hold classes at 1 p.m. each Tuesday and Thursday.

Limited seating is available and reservations are recommended. Cost is $75 per person.

Tabasco’s 1868 chef Lionel Robin will instruct students in how to add a little spice to their meals.
