Breakfast Pizza Pie

Makes 2 10 inch pizzas

  • Pizza dough (recipe follows)
  • Olive oil for brushing pizza dough
  • 1 cup crème fraiche or ¾ cup mascarpone and ¼ cup sour cream mixed together
  • 1 cup gruyere cheese, grated (½ cup for each pizza)
  • 1 recipe for home fries (recipe follows)
  • 1 lb. fresh pork sausage
  • 10 pieces of smoked apple wood thick bacon, cooked
  • 2 cups of assorted grated cheese (cheddar, Manchego, jalapeno etc...)
  • 1 ball fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
  • Fried eggs, as requested

Preheat oven to 450 degrees

Roll out pizza dough into 2 10” Pizzas. Using a pastry brush smear olive oil all over the crust including edges.

Smear the bottom of the dough with ½ cup of crème fraiche, sprinkle with gruyere cheese.

Top the pizza dough with a layer of the home fries. 

Brown fresh pork sausage, drain and put a layer on top of potatoes. 

Crumble up the cooked bacon and layer it on top of the sausage.

Divide the grated cheese and mozzarella between the two pizzas

Place in a preheated oven and cook for 10-12 minutes.

Remove from oven and slice onto pieces, and top each slice with a fried egg.

Fried Eggs: 

Save bacon drippings, from cooking the bacon. Place 2 tablespoons in a non stick skillet. 

Heat up bacon drippings and crack drop 2 eggs into heated skillet cook on one side for 1 minute, flip egg over and cook another 1 minute slide off onto pizza slice.
