Grapefruit and Ginger Simple Syrup

1 cup sugar

1 cup water

Juice of 1 Grapefruit

2 inches of fresh Ginger, sliced

Bring the sugar and water to a boil in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat, stirring to dissolve sugar. Add ginger and grapefruit juice bring to a simmer and simmer for 7-10 minutes remove from heat, and let steep 30 minutes. Pour syrup through a fine sieve into an airtight container; discard ginger. Refrigerate up to 1 month. 

 

Suggested Uses:  Mix with Sparkling water as a refreshing drink, Pour a tablespoon in the bottom of a Champagne flute and top with Champagne. Brush the syrup as a glaze on pound cakes and layered cakes before icing.
